Concert on Demand - The Prelimenary program for the Gala Concert on the 5th of July at the Mariinsky Theatre:

The top five at present are as follows: first is Norma’s aria and cabaletta Casta Diva from Vincenzo Bellini’s opera Norma with 282 votes, followed by Tosca’s aria Vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca (225 votes), Aida’s aria O patria mia from Giuseppe Verdi’s eponymous opera (172 votes), Abigaille’s recitative and aria Ben io t’invenni… o fatal scritto! From Verdi’s opera Nabucco and Let me die... from Tatiana’s “Letter Scene” in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin.
Interestingly, the top ten included The Queen of Spades (Liza’s aria and arioso Midnight draws near…), Giacomo Puccini’s La fanciulla del West (Minnie’s aria) and Verdi’s Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio (Leonora’s aria), though these have not yet, however, held firm.
But everything could still change and everyone who visits the site (www.mariinsky.ru) can have their say in the vote.

Management regrets to inform you that the Masada Festival in Israel has announced performances of Verdi’s Nabucco with Maria Guleghina. We regret to advise this information is false. Ms Guleghina was not invited to Masada and does not have a contract to sing with the Festival.

A Maria Guleghina il 39^ Premio Puccini di Torre del Lago

E' il soprano ucraino Maria Guleghina la vincitrice del 39mo Premio Puccini. Il prestigioso riconoscimento della Fondazione Festival Pucciniano di Torre del Lago, che premia l'interpretazione pucciniana, va alla Guleghina ''che con la sua voce -si legge in una nota- ha segnato gli ultimi dieci anni del melodramma italiano, distinguendosi per l'incisivita' drammatica con cui ha interpretato le eroine pucciniane, Manon Lescaut, Tosca e Turandot''.
Domenica prossima alle 17,00 presso l'Auditorium del Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini di Torre del Lago sara' consegnato Premio al soprano ucraino, tra i piu' acclamati dal pubblico di tutto il mondo, stella della lirica che sara' tra i protagonisti del cartellone 2010 del Festival Torrelaghese.
